sean penn once escaped from jail after being accused of attempted murder, it has been revealed.the hollywood bad boy was arrested in 1986 after he was seen dangling a man over the side of a hotel balcony, with the help of his personal assistant. penn makes the shocking confession in his new biography, 'sean penn: his life and times', where he claims the stranger lunged at him as he entered his hotel room when he was staying on the chinese island of macaco.penn reveals in the book: "i grabbed the guy, ran him through the room to the balcony and hung him over - on the ninth floor." the 'mystic river' actor claimed it was only after he dangled the man over the edge that he realised he was a paparazzi photographer.however, police had already been called and sean and his assistant were taken into custody.he told biographer richard kelly: "five minutes later i'm in jail, sitting on a stone floor next to my friend, and everyone's talking portuguese."however, soon after being detained, penn noticed that the cell door was ajar and escaped with his assistant before fleeing the former portuguese colony.the star also revealed he received "a pardon from the portuguese government" for the attempted murder charge
