«gigante», scolpito tra il 1501 e il 1504, e subito destinato a esser
posto davanti al palazzo della signoria, «puň essere considerato come
una sintesi degli ideali del rinascimento fiorentino» (tolnay). la
dignitŕ e potenza morali espresse classicamente nella bellezza ed
energia del corpo umano, esaltato nella sua armonia, trovavano solenne
espressione in questo «superorganismo».
